Living Up To A Purposeful Life – My 2017

For the last couple of years, I have been living what I call a purposeful value-driven life, and what a difference it has made! But what does this mean? Let’s go by parts. Value-driven means I have chosen the values and beliefs that are the foundation of the person I want to be, the best version of me. And that I use those values and beliefs to shape the actions I take every day to reach my goals. And purposeful means I do so on purpose and thoughtfully.

Being true to myself and embracing who I am, with my strengths and insecurities, has allowed me to grow and achieve so much more than I expected. So, when the year of 2017 was just beginning, I thought very carefully about my values, my beliefs, my goals and I purposefully focused my energy in actions that would lead me there.

I made it clear that I wanted three things:

1) Fulfil my life mission of becoming a Fertility Coach

2) Open my heart to meet my soul mate

3) Continue to challenge myself to grow and contribute to society

Fulfil my life mission of becoming a Fertility Coach

To meet this goal, I started a Neurolinguistic Programming Diploma course in January and graduated in April. I wanted to learn the tools that would help me support people in their fertility journey. I have my own infertility story; having coped rather well and have been a nurse for over 12 years, I knew that learning practical ways of helping others psychologically was a must to be the best coach I could be.

I have also started my own company, inFertile Life, offering a range of services to help people, from coaching packages, to events, and online courses. I have developed a unique tool – the Fertility Canvas – that helps people plan their unique fertility journey. And launched my website to showcase all services available.

I have written and published my first book “The Formula to not giving a f**k about fertility”.

I have also published a diary “My Happiness Diary” and two other smaller books “Affirmations for a Healthy Pregnancy” and “Affirmations for Coping with Infertility”.

I am now the London contact for Fertility Network UK and got involved with important medical organisations, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Women’s Voices and Public Insight Group, and the Royal College of Nursing Fertility Forum.

I had my first stand at The Fertility Show and established important collaborations with other businesses in the field. And my gratitude to Jill at London Sperm Bank, Anya and Kat at Fertility Network UK, Sandra and Joanne at National Fertility Society, Olivia at BarcelonaIVF, Nuray at CellOxess, Natalie at The Fertility Podcast, Dorothy at EggDonationFriends for your support!

As the year was coming to an end, all the hard work was acknowledged as I was awarded NLP Coach of the Year at the International Coaching Awards! A real surprise and serious honour to be recognised for the hard work in helping others in their fertility journey.

And… I have been announced as the first speaker at TEDx Camden happening next year! Dang.

And… I did this while starting a new job at UCLH with more responsibility and growing my other company SedateUK, taking a partnership deal with Medtronic.

Open my heart to meet my soul mate

Last year was a year of rediscovering myself, of being comfortable in my own skin, of being strong enough to stand for what I believe, for what I need in a relationship and what I don’t want in a relationship. And it was only in 2017 that I owned that, that I was true to myself and opened my heart to meet my soul mate. He came into my life unexpectedly but we both realised very early on that we were meant to be. We can be ourselves together, we support and elevate each other to grow and achieve our goals. And we love each other unconditionally. That seemed to be the key to unlocking everything else.

Continue to challenge myself to grow and contribute to society

The way I see it, everyone is looking for fulfilment but not many achieve it, because we look for it in the wrong things in life: jobs that don’t resonate to our hearts, relationships that are superficial, and material things that represent a certain social status, trying to fill a never-ending void.

However, fulfilment doesn’t come from what we have, but from who we are. It comes from constantly challenging ourselves to grow and from giving back, contributing to society.

Fulfilment doesn’t come from what we have, but from who we are.

It comes from constantly challenging ourselves to grow and giving back.”

The way I have chosen to challenge myself to grow is by helping others in their fertility journey. Because it’s something so close to my heart because I know very well the pain of not being fertile. Supporting others allows me to face my insecurities and grow to be a better person – In my life I derive meaning from helping others achieve their reproductive health goals, whatever they might be.

And I have been giving back and contributing to society by allowing 10% of my work at inFertile Life pro bono, for those who cannot afford it. Because the suffering of infertility is so deep, I want everyone going to through it to have medical and psychological support available.

Having had such an amazing 2017, how can I make 2018 even more amazing?

Because living a purposeful value-driven life has been working so well, I want to carry on with this success formula! In my love life, I am committed to carry on loving my partner, focused on strengthening our connection and growing together.

Regarding my life mission, I am committed to growing inFertile Life and taking every opportunity that allows me to help others in their fertility journey. It starts in January with a webinar for Fertility Network UK and February with my TEDx talk! I will also be at The Fertility Show running the nurses panel in Manchester and doing a talk in London. And my event is also on the agenda. This is just the beginning. I can hardly wait for what’s to come!
